2026–2028
Côte d’Ivoire demonstrator
Establish the national node, common data standards, contribution workflows, provenance, field validation and initial decision-support research.

Vision 2040 and Beyond
2040 is a measurable strategic milestone. It is not an expiry date for W4A.
The roadmap begins with a Côte d’Ivoire demonstrator, progresses toward West African interoperability, and can mature into a broader African water data and decision-support network. Groundwater remains a major scientific foundation within this wider mission.
2026–2028
Establish the national node, common data standards, contribution workflows, provenance, field validation and initial decision-support research.
2028–2032
Activate additional country nodes, shared schemas, cross-border datasets, university collaborations and model-transfer studies.
2032–2036
Expand institutional participation, training, standards, regional modelling and reproducible research services.
2036–2040
Strengthen interoperable national nodes, long-term monitoring, validated decision workflows and evidence-informed planning.
Beyond 2040
Continue adapting the platform to equitable water access, service sustainability, groundwater, water quality, climate resilience, emerging data standards and new scientific methods.
